A striking 19th century oil on canvas portrait of William Gladstone speaking in Parliament. Gladstone was a British statesman and Liberal politician. In a career lasting over 60 years, he served for 12 years as Prime Minister.
Signed illegibly by the artist. There is handwritten on one panel 'July 30 1898', only a few months after Gladstone's death. As such, this is believed to be a commemorative portrait.
