A striking and beautifully executed 19th century Dutch school portrait of a rather mischievous looking schoolboy in uniform wearing a white fur-lined beret. The artist has used a dark, rich colour palette for the background and the boy's uniform, contrasting it with the child's illuminated facial features. In excellent condition, with craquelure throughout. Set in its original gilt frame. Unsigned.
